Rebekah Pulley and the Reluctant Prophets Hold CD Release Party At Fogartyville In Sarasota

Rebekah Pulley is a St. Petersburg, FL based singer-songwriter and performer whose sultry, seasoned voice has been described as jaw dropping, with a tendency to break your heart and shake your soul. Her songwriting, live performances, and recordings have earned her 7 'Best Of The Bay’ awards from Tampa Bay’s own Creative Loafing.

Rebekah Pulley and the Reluctant Prophets bring their smoky Southern Folk-infused sound with elements of jazz and blues to the Fogartyville stage on Saturday, June 15 at 8pm as they celebrate the release of their new CD “The Sea of Everything”. Opening the show will be Ronny Elliott. This hillbilly soul singer from Tampa reaches into the deep American well of rock n' roll and rhythm and blues to bring a gritty brand of dark-hued story songs to the stage. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Advance tickets are available online at www.wslr.org  or by calling 1-800-838-3006.

Pulley was raised in a musical household with her nine siblings in rural Alaska. A self taught guitarist, she gained an ear for music by listening to her father practice and perform his pre-rockabilly style with country greats such as Charlie Ryan with whom he recorded the original version of Hot Rod Lincoln. During this time, she has recorded 5 full-length CD's that have permeated American and European airwaves. Each CD contains its own distinctive blend of tough but tender songs reflecting heartache, love, self-discovery and worldly chaos. Her unique combination of skilled songwriting and powerful stage presence has earned Ms. Pulley a place among the top singer/songwriters in the state.

Ronny Elliott was born in 1947. Frequently referred to as a cult artist he has stories that he claims to be tired of telling. Elvis offered to teach him karate. He was assigned the lowly task of holding up Jimi's Marshall cabinets in case he "whacked" them after opening the show. He has played on bills with Van Morrison, the Allman Brothers, Wilco, Sly & The Family Stone, Michael Bloomfield, Canned Heat, Steve Miller, NRBQ, Patti Smith, Pete Seeger, Steve Earle and lots of other folks that he looks up to. He has toured with Bo Diddley and Bill Haley and the Comets and backed Chuck Berry, the Coasters and Gene Vincent on tour. Elliott has just released his ninth solo CD, I've Been Meaning To Write.
